The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 won’t be launched until the 2nd of August next week, but the highly anticipated phablet has been leaked yet again. This time around, we got an even more detailed look at the Note 7’s specifications, including a waterproof S Pen.
It has been rumoured for quite some time now that the Galaxy Note 7 will be waterproof, but it remained a mystery as to whether or not the S Pen will also be functional when the device is submerged. If a recent Reddit AMA by “samsungsmart” is to be believed, the S Pen will be in fact work underwater, although we’re not quite sure if anyone would want to jot down notes with the S Pen when they’re going for a swim.
Speaking of which, the S Pen is said to receive a slew of other new features as well. Apparently, it will be possible to make GIFs with the S Pen: users will only have to trace a section of a video to turn it into a GIF. Interestingly, the S Pen can supposedly translate words in other languages as well when you hover over them.
Other than the S Pen, samsungsmart also revealed that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM as standard; there will be no 32GB option for the upcoming phablet, which may drive up the price of the Note 7.
Rounding out the specifications of the Galaxy Note 7 leaked in the Reddit AMA are a body similar to the Galaxy S7 edge with rounded edges, a “slight edge” display, and a slow motion feature which can supposedly slow down objects independently – we imagine this can create pretty interesting videos. The Note 7 will supposedly pack a retina scanner, a 3,500mAh battery, a 12MP camera, and a USB Type-C port as well.
If these information are accurate, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is set to be the Korean company’s best smartphones yet. However, there is a chance that these details are inaccurate, although samsungsmart did prove to be accurate in the past. Regardless, we will find out ourselves when the Galaxy Note 7 is announced on the 2nd of August next week.
