Last year’s Samsung Gear S2 proved to be one of the best smartwatches in the market, so it’ll be interesting to see if its successor can live up to it. Well, if a recent report is to be believed, the Korean giant could very well be unveiling the successor to the Gear S2 – possibly dubbed the Gear S3 – in September this year.
There aren’t a lot to go on regarding the specifications or new features of the Gear S3. However, according to SamMobile, the upcoming smartwatch will retain the intuitive rotatable bezel of its predecessor, which was one of the best hardware of the Gear S2. In light of this, it goes without saying that the Gear S3 will have a circular display as well.
Purported leak of the Samsung Gear S3
Other than that, SamMobile also mentioned that the Gear S3 will be officially launched at IFA 2016, which will take place from the 2nd to the 7th of September. This is in line with the launch of the Gear S2 last year, which also took place at the very same trade show.
Of course, while these information seem convincing, it’s worth noting that none of them came from Samsung itself; there is always a chance they may be false. That being said, SamMobile does have a good track record of being accurate with its information.
Last year, Samsung teased the Gear S2 when the company launched the Galaxy Note 5. We wouldn’t be surprised if the company will be doing the same at the Galaxy Note 7’s launch event next week on the 2nd of August.
