Taichung, Taiwan has a new tourist attraction courtesy of Blizzard Entertainment. The company recently unveiled a massive statue of Warcraft’s Lich King Arthas Menethil in Calligraphy Greenway.
The park is a cultural and artistic hub set between the National Museum of Natural Science and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. Blizzard chose the location for its only bronze statue in Asia due to the city’s “blooming international tourism and accessibility.”
The press release refers to the new statue as a cultural landmark for visitors and tourists. Although, the main goal is to celebrate the importance of Asia as a gaming market for Blizzard.
The statue itself stands some 3.2m tall and weighs almost two metric tonnes. Designed by artist Steve Wang, who was born in Taiwan, the landmark took over a year to plan and build. Wang is no stranger to making statue for Blizzard, having also designed the Sarah Kerrigan statue that stands outside Blizzard’s office in Versailles, France.
