There’s no denying that Apple puts lots of efforts into the camera of its iPhones. The Cupertino company has been updating its camera hardware and software to let users capture better photos, but Microsoft thinks it can do better. The company recently announced the Microsoft Pix camera app that lets you “take better photos without extra effort”.
According to Microsoft, there are some “serious intelligence behind the lens”. The camera app will detect what you are trying to capture, and then automatically tweak the settings so you can get the perfect shot be it of people or of a scene, kind of like “having a pro photographer inside your camera”.
Microsoft Pix has other features too like using face recognition to optimise settings to help people look their best, a Live Photos-like capability so you won’t miss a moment, capture several shots and keeping only the best ones so it doesn’t waste your precious non-expandable storage space, Hyperlase videos, and more. Finally, once you are done capturing pictures and videos, you can edit them further using Microsoft Pix.

Microsoft Pix is available right now on the App Store. It is a free app, but do make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi because the app is 149MB in size. Check out the App Store to find out more about Microsoft Pix.
