Back when the OnePlus 3 was officially unveiled, it was only available in one colour: Graphite. Now, the company has announced a brand new colour it dubs Soft Gold. According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 3 Soft Gold edition “isn’t your typical gaudy gold smartphone.”
OnePlus elaborated that the shade of gold used on the OnePlus 3 Soft Gold edition is toned down for a light, elegant look. The company also said this variant features “a subtle texture reminiscent of holding fine, silky-soft sand.” Evidently, OnePlus is proud of this variant of the OnePlus 3, going as far as to say “press photos and product renders don’t do it justice.”
Aside from the new colour, the OnePlus 3 Soft Gold edition is identical in terms of hardware to the Graphite model. It still has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p Optic AMOLED display, 64GB of fast UFS 2.0 non-expandable storage, a USB Type-C port, and a 3,000mAh battery with support for the company’s Dash Charge technology – it’s said to be capable of charging the battery to 60% with only 30 minutes of charging.
Rounding out the specifications of the OnePlus 3 are a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and phase detection autofocus, an 8MP front-facing shooter, support for NFC , a fingerprint sensor, as well as an all-metal construction.
The OnePlus 3 Soft Gold edition is now up for pre-order on Lazada. Surprisingly enough, it costs the same as the Graphite variant at RM1,888; this is despite the fact that the Soft Gold model is a limited one. The Soft Gold variant of the OnePlus 3 will start shipping to consumers in Malaysia on 10 August 2016.
