The International Dota 2 Championship 2016 is big business, and it looks like TGV is getting in on the hype. The cinema chain has announced that has partnered with Astro’s eGG and Mineski to screen the grand finale for TI6 in three locations across the country.
TI6 is the biggest Dota 2 tournament in the world, and will see 16 teams from across the globe competing for their share of the $18 million prize pool. Naturally, Malaysian based Fnatic will also be in action, after winning the Southeast Asian qualifier to book their place at the KeyArena in Seattle.
In addition to screening the finale, TGV has also partnered with Hotlink, Nvidia, and Steelseries to provide prizes for a lucky draw. The prizes are split between screenings at 1 Utama KL, 1st Avenue Penang, and Tebrau Johor Bahru. The division will have 1 Utama getting most of the good stuff, although Penang and Johor still have some excellent prizes up for grabs.
– 1 Utama: Nvidia Gforce GTX 1060, Predator Gaming Utility Backpack, Mouse and Headset, Steelseries Rival 700 mouse and Siberia 800 headset, and RM500 Hotlink of Steam Codes.
– 1st Avenue & Tebrau: Nvidia Gforce GTX 950, Predator Gaming Utility Backpack, Mouse and Headset, Steelseries Rival 700 mouse and Siberia 800 headset, and RM500 Hotlink Steam Codes.
There is no information on ticket prices just yet, but we expect more information to be released as the screening date closes. TGV isn’t the first cinema chain to screen the grand finals of the Dota 2 championship. GSC held a screening for TI5 last year at 1 Utama. That being said, TGV is putting a lot more effort into this by partnering with Astro’s eGG.
Naturally, we also expect Astro to have the entire TI6 available through the eGG channel, although there has been no announcement about it yet.
