Twitter is making it easier for users to receive a verified status on their Twitter account. The company recently announced an online application process for verified accounts, so if you are an influencer or a creator with a Twitter account that is “determined to be of public interest”, you will soon be able to get that blue badge icon.
“We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification. We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience.” – Tina Bhatnagar, Vice President of User Services, Twitter.
Previously, the blue verified badge was only available to high-profile users such as celebrities, brands, people in the media, politics, sports, and such. Now, as long as you have an account is of “public interest”, you can apply for the blue checkmark.
To apply, you will need a verified phone number, confirmed email address, a profile photo, a website, a public account, and other information for verification purposes. Twitter also recommends that the account belongs to a person and the name reflects the real or stage name of the person, a header image that reflects the person or branding, and such.
The application process will start rolling out today and be available globally this week. Check out Twitter’s support page for more information.
