Microsoft’s upcoming update to the Xbox One gaming console, the Xbox One S, will be arriving on the 2nd of August. Interestingly, the first variant of the new console to be made available would be one with the 2TB hard drive. Unfortunately, Microsoft has mentioned that the Xbox One S will only be made available for selected regions during the launch date.
The Xbox One S is significantly smaller compared to its predecessor; 40% smaller to be exact. In addition, the console now has an Infrared Blaster along with a built-in power supply. Hardware improvements done to the new console allows it to now support 4K and high dynamic range videos.
Aside from that, the Xbox One S ships with a new controller as well. This new controller comes with textured grips, improved Xbox Wireless Signal capability, as well as Bluetooth support for gamers to be able to shift easily between using the controller on the gaming console and their PCs. More information on the new Xbox One S controller can be found here. Sadly, gamers would have to wait a little longer for the Xbox One S to be made available in our shores. Speaking of which, the Xbox One S gaming console will be priced at US$399 (about RM1,600). We’ll keep you updated should there be any announcement regarding the availability of this console in Malaysia.
