Samsung may have had the coolest limited edition smartphone release this year with its Batman edition of the Galaxy S7 edge, but a new, one-of-a-kind smartphone that’s available now is set to be sold at a much higher price than the RM4,199 Bat-phone.
Oppo, as an official sponsor of popular Spanish football club FC Barcelona, is making available a special edition F1 Plus smartphone. It’s called the F1 Plus Barcelona Edition, and only one unit will be available to Malaysians.
As an added bonus of not just being the only owner of this phone in Malaysia, proceeds from the sale of the device will go to charity. In this case, it’ll be donated to the “30 Hour Famine” by World Vision, a global youth movement against hunger and poverty.
The regular F1 Plus, which retails for RM2,098, runs on a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM, and sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display. As a phone billed as a “selfie expert”, the hardware reflects that: the rear camera is a 13MP shooter, while the front is a 16MP ISOCELL sensor.
The Barcelona Edition is a cosmetically-enhanced version of the F1 Plus, with a unique blue-red colourway that’s synonymous with the Blaugrana. The back also features an 18K gold plated club crest, as well as autographs of the team’s exciting attacking triumvirate: Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez.
If that’s not enough, the bundled back cover also contains signatures from five other Barcelona stars. The UI has also been tweaked too, which is customised with an FC Barcelona theme.
Bidding for the Oppo F1 Plus Barcelona Edition starts today, and will end on 20 July. At the time of writing, the highest bid has now surpassed RM10,000. With two days to go, we’re sure this figure will go even higher.
