Razer is releasing one new product after another, and the company’s latest peripheral is…interesting, to say the least. Dubbed the “Razer Mechanical Keyboard Case for Apple iPad Pro,” it is the company’s first-ever keyboard case made specifically for the Apple tablet.
The mechanical keyboard case is unmistakably a Razer product, and it certainly looks much more sturdy than Apple’s Smart Keyboard for the tablet thanks to the metal kickstand. As for the mechanical keyboard itself, Razer mentioned the keys feature “all-new Razer ultra-low-profile mechanical switches,” which is said to deliver the “exact same performance and feel as a full-fledged mechanical keyboard.” Needless to say, this is quite a claim to make.
However, unlike Apple’s official keyboard, Razer’s keyboard case do not connect to the iPad Pro via the tablet’s proprietary Smart Connector. Instead, the keyboard takes advantage of Bluetooth, and Razer claims that it has up to 600 hours of battery life with the backlight switched off. With the backlight at maximum brightness, the keyboard case has about 10 hours of battery life.
Razer’s mechanical keyboard case for the iPad Pro is certainly an interesting product, but it is only available for the 12.9-inch variant of the tablet. On top of that, the keyboard case is not affordable as well: the case can now be purchased from Razer’s Malaysia online store for RM739.
