Fallout Shelter is now available on PC; although it isn’t that easy to obtain. In addition to the port, all versions of the game will be seeing an update that introduces a new quest system for vault dwellers.
Update 1.6 for Fallout Shelther introduces quests that allows the Overseer to send Vault Dwellers out into the world to explore. There are new locations like abandoned warehouses, and several places that already appear in the game – like Red Rocket Fuel Stop and Super Duper Mart.
Quests also introduces a greater level of control for the Dwellers out on a quest – particularly for combat. Players are now free to direct the Dweller’s actions during a battle. Weapons can be customised, while a mini-game has been introduced for the chance to accomplish critical hits.
The PC version of Fallout Shelter is only available through the Bethesda.net launcher. The lack of Steam integration is a little disappointing; considering that Fallout 4 is already available through the platform. It could be Bethesda attempting to promote its own game distribution platform, but the additional barrier to entry puts a damper on any excite of the PC port.
