More and more flagship smartphones are making their way to Malaysia. After HTC Malaysia officially introduced its latest flagship – the HTC 10 – locally, it appears LG Malaysia is gearing up to do the same with the LG G5.
Unveiled back at MWC 2016 close to five months ago, the LG G5 has finally been registered with SIRIM. Usually, devices registered with the certification body will be launched locally soon after it has appeared in the database, although this isn’t always the case. However, it’s worth noting that the G5’s predecessor, the LG G4, was officially launched in Malaysia not long after it was registered with SIRIM.
The LG G5 is an interesting smartphone in the sense that it is modular – to a certain extent. The bottom part of the device can be replaced with what LG refers to as “Friends,” which are various accessories which enhance the device. While LG’s implementation of a modular concept isn’t as refined as Lenovo’s with the new Moto Z series, it’s still an interesting concept regardless.
It has been quite some time since the LG G5 was officially unveiled, but it’s still good to see that LG Malaysia is finally preparing to launch its latest flagship device on our shores. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye for any information on the official retail price and availability of the LG G5 in Malaysia.
