Just recently, Qualcomm officially introduced the Snapdragon 821 processor. Aside from higher clock speeds, the Snapdragon 821 is pretty similar to the Snapdragon 820, although the former is definitely faster. Well, it appears Asus will be the first company to take advantage of the new chipset: the ZenFone 3 Deluxe will ship with the brand new processor.
This isn’t all that surprising, considering the fact that a Snapdragon 821-powered ZenFone 3 Deluxe has been rumoured since last month. Other than the processor, however, this new variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe isn’t that much different from its other models.
The new ZenFone 3 Deluxe still has a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a whopping 6GB RAM, up to 256GB of fast UFS 2.0 storage, a microSD card slot, a 3,000mAh battery, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor. Other specifications of this new variant include a 23MP rear camera with four-axis optical image stabilisation, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and an all-metal construction.
At the time of this writing, the Snapdragon 821 variant of the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe has only been launched in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Oddly enough, it hasn’t been revealed exactly when this particular variant will be available for purchase. Regardless, the Snapdragon 821-powered ZenFone 3 Deluxe with 256GB of storage will go for a whopping 24,990 NTD, which comes up to about RM3,085.
