It hasn’t even been a month since the OnePlus 3 was officially unveiled, but to our surprise, it has been registered with SIRIM today. While this isn’t exactly a confirmation of the OnePlus 3’s availability here in Malaysia, a representative of OnePlus has indicated that the third iteration of the device may be launched locally in August next month.
Ruta Klyvyte, the business development manager at OnePlus, has confirmed on Twitter that the company is working hard to release the OnePlus 3 in Malaysia sometime in August. In the post, she also tagged Brightstar Malaysia, which isn’t exactly a surprise: the OnePlus 3 was registered with SIRIM under the distributor.
Hey! Keep an eye on @OnePlus_MY, we're working hard to bring it to Malaysia in August @MyBrightstar

The OnePlus 3 is a well-equipped flagship smartphone. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p Optic AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with a whopping 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of non-expandable storage, a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor, and a 3,000mAh battery with support for the company’s very own Dash Charge technology.
Rounding out the specifications of the OnePlus 3 are a 16MP rear camera with optical and electronic image stabilisation, an 8MP front-facing shooter, 4K video recording capability, NFC, and of course, a solid, all-metal construction – an improvement over the OnePlus 2’s more plasticky body.
Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability of the OnePlus 3. It will be very interesting to see how much the flagship smartphone will cost in Malaysia, and whether or not it can disrupt the high-end market with its price tag.
