Bang & Olufsen has now joined the portable Bluetooth earphones bandwagon with its $249 (about RM1,000) Beoplay H5 wireless earphones.
While audiophiles usually steer away from all things Bluetooth, the H5 promises high fidelity with its Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, 6.4mm dynamic drivers, an impedance value of 16 Ohm and a frequency range of 20 – 20000 Hz.
While not completely wireless, the H5’s design is still simple and sleek. The cable that connects the left and right earbuds are braided and easy to clean (they’re made from a material similar to those used to make sneakers) and when not in use, the earbuds can click together magnetically to not only be able to stylishly hang around your neck, but also conserve battery by powering down the earphones.
The H5s are also splash and dust resistant and you get seven sets of extra tips right in the box to customise your desired fit and sound signature. A companion app is available via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to monitor battery life and customise the earphone’s sound signature through EQ as well. B&O claims the H5’s 100 mAh battery can last up to 5 hours worth of continuous playback.
The Beoplay H5 comes in two flavours: Black and Dusty Rose and goes for $249 (about RM1000). They are yet to be released in Malaysia but Bang & Olufsen Malaysia’s Facebook page has recently posted an image of the H5 so it shouldn’t be too far off.
