(UPDATE – 429PM): We’ve now added official announcement by Webe as well as screenshots from the registration site as provided by our forumers this morning.
As per our previous report, selected UniFi, Streamyx, and P1 customers will begin to receive invite to subscribe to Webe starting from today onwards. These customers will become the first group of users outside of trial phases that will be able to utilize Webe before it is made available for wider audience later in the year.
Hence, the pricing of the Webe plan is only available to these selected customers at the moment via the telco’s official website. With that, we decided to stop by at Webe Lounge in Sunway Pyramid to learn more about what Webe has in store for its first batch of public users.
According to our conversation with the staff at the outlet, the first payment generally looks like this:
(Upfront Payment + Monthly Commitment) – (Discount for UniFi, Streamyx, and P1 Users + Additional discount if your phone support LTE 850MHz band)
= (RM 106 + RM 210.94) – (RM 63.60 + RM 63.60)
= RM 316.94 – RM 127.20
= RM 189.74
As the Webe has designated first day of each month as the start of its billing cycle, the upfront payment will be pro-rated in the first bill. As for monthly fees, this is the calculation that was given to us:
Monthly Commitment – (Discount for UniFi, Streamyx, and P1 Users + Additional discount if your phone support LTE 850MHz band)
= RM 210.94 – (RM 63.60 + RM 63.60)
= RM 83.74
The plan comes with unlimited data and SMS with RM 500 worth of voice calls per month although customers are bound to the usual Fair Usage Policy. Not to forget, it comes with no contract as well. However, customers need to obtain a Personal Wi-Fi Pass from Webe’s website which cost RM 6.36 per 2 hours if they want to share their Internet connection through their phone’s hotspot function – similar to Webe’s Pioneer Plan.
We were also informed that these selected customers can actually register themselves through Webe’s online store or at any of Webe Lounge which also located at Queensbay Pulau Pinang and Komtar Johor Bharu City Centre. Additionally, there are also several devices that customers are able to purchase at discounted prices through Webe’s online store as well.
As mentioned earlier, Webe will be sending the invite by phases starting from today onwards. Of course, users can choose to register their interest right here if they feel that they might not be part of the invited group.
(UPDATE – 430pm): As it turns out, Webe has officially announced the pricing of its unlimted plan on its Facebook page shortly after our article went live:
Meanwhile, a number of Lowyat.NET forumers have apparently receive the invite and have posted several screenshot from the protected part of Webe’s official website which further confirmed the information that we received from Webe Lounge.
