It was only last week when we spotted the Nexus 5X in SIRIM’s database, which is a good indication that the pure Android device is making its way to Malaysia. Well, it appears the Nexus 5X will in fact be officially available on our shores, and consumers can get their hands on it from July 2016 onwards.
According to Amanz, which has gotten in touch with Brightstar Malaysia, only one variant of the Nexus 5X will be officially available in Malaysia. This isn’t exactly a bad thing, as it is the more practical 32GB model. The best part is, this variant of the Nexus 5X will only go for RM1,199: that’s a very reasonable price tag.
For that kind of money, the Nexus 5X is packed with the very same 12.3MP rear camera as the Nexus 6P. In our review of the latter, we found it to be one of the best mobile shooters in the market, which should – theoretically – apply to the Nexus 5X as well. Other than that, the 5X also features a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Rounding out the specifications of the Nexus 5X are a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, a Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, a rear fingerprint sensor, a modest 2,700mAh battery, and of course, Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, which will be updated to the latest and greatest version of Android when it is available. After all, that’s one of the main advantages of a Nexus device.
The Nexus 5X should be officially available for purchase from next month onwards in Malaysia for RM1,199. If the Nexus 6P isn’t to your liking, the smaller – and much more affordable – Nexus 5X is worth a consideration.
