Not too long after launching the Huawei P9 in early April, the Chinese company has started sending out invites to its next big event. Set to happen on the 1st of September, it is right before IFA 2016 takes place, which starts from the 2nd of September.
Looking back, Huawei actually introduced the Mate S in IFA 2015. Chances are, the company may just unveil the successor to the device on the 1st of September this year. After all, the Mate S was one of Huawei’s earlier attempts at a premium smartphone – it was also its first device to be packed with a pressure-sensitive display, although the general availability of said variant is quite limited.
Then again, some are also saying Huawei may just unveil a successor to the Mate 8 at the upcoming event. However, the device was actually introduced back in late November last year. While it’s not far-fetched to assume that a successor to the Mate 8 could be announced two months earlier this year, the likelihood of it happening is debatable.
Regardless, all will be revealed come 1st September 2016. It will be interesting to see just how many devices Huawei will unveil on that day, and whether or not the company will release a contender to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 7.
