Ever reached a busy intersection while you’re driving, and you start panicking because there are no traffic lights, nobody’s giving way and you have limited visibility? Waze says that they will help you avoid these “difficult intersections” with a new routing feature.
The new feature will help bypass difficult intersections whenever possible. This will help promote safer and a less stressful drive for drivers. It will not completely skip out such intersections of course, Waze will try to find the best route to avoid difficult intersections however, if the ETA is “significantly longer”, Waze will still drive through the intersection.
The feature is currently available and turned on automatically for drivers in Los Angeles. Waze is working with the local map editor and employee community to identify these intersections, and they are also receiving support from their Connected Citizens Program partner.
Waze says that they will be expanding their “difficult intersections” feature to New Orleans soon, and globally. The needs are identified by the Waze community so if you feel that we need this feature here in Malaysia, let Waze know by hitting the “report” button in the Waze app and select “Map Issue”.
