The Dota 2 Internationals is only seven weeks away and Valve has announced the six teams with direct invites to the main event. With the conclusion of the Major tournaments – Frankfurt, Shanghai, and Manila – the Summer tournament will be held from the 3rd to 13th of June at the Key Arena in Seattle like previous years.
The six teams that have received the invitation are two-time Major tournament champions, Team OG, Team Liquid, Newbee, LGD Gaming, MVP Phoenix, and Natus Vincere.
Professional teams that did not get a direct invite can compete in the Regional Qualifiers which will be happening from the 25th to 28th of June to earn their place in The Internationals. Top two teams from each region will make it to the main event, while third place finishers will head on to Seattle for the Wild Card round, battling to secure one of the final two spots in the tournament.
Besides that, the Open Qualifiers will be going on from 21st to 24th of June and this is where non-professional teams can break into the professional scene by playing against some of the world’s best Dota 2 teams. The Open Qualifiers will be organised by Faceit (Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia) and Perfect World (China). Top two teams from each Open Qualifier will move on to the Regional Qualifier. If they have what it takes, they’ll be meeting the elites at The International main event in Seattle.
With the prize pool for The Internationals exceeding $12 million (roughly RM48 million) and counting, the stakes are high for all competing teams. The Dota 2 Internationals will see a total of 18 teams battling it out for their share of the prize pool, and should you wish to be one of them, your road to The Internationals begins with joining the Open Qualifiers here.
