Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page has teased an impending launch of the Mi 5. There’s little to be gleaned from the single image, although it does say that Xiaomi’s most recent flagship phone will be available soon.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been a long time coming, seeing that it was globally announced all the way back at Mobile World Congress in February. It is unknown why it’s taken this long for Xiaomi to begin teasing the smartphone. After all, the device was spotted in the SIRIM database in March.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor the Xiaomi Mi 5 packs 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and up to 128GB of storage. We are uncertain which versions of the Mi 5 will be brought into Malaysia, but we’re banking on the ceramic backed model making an appearance. The price won’t be as low as we’re used to seeing from Xiaomi, but it will give the Chinese company something to shout about.
There is no pricing hinted at yet for the Mi 5, but chances are it won’t deviate too much from the prices available back in China.
