The successor to the honor 4C, the aptly named honor 5C, will be available in Malaysia very, very soon: a media preview session for the affordable smartphone will be happening tomorrow on the 14th of June. Interestingly (and oddly enough), the retail price of the honor 5C has already been leaked.
Some sharp-eyed members of the media have spotted the product page of the honor 5C on Lazada. Naturally, the listing has already been removed, but the cache of the page revealed that the honor 5C will retail at RM799 in Malaysia. For the sake of comparison, the same variant of the 5C retails at 999 Chinese yuan (about RM620) in China.
In terms of specification, the honor 5C is a much higher-end smartphone over its predecessor. It has gained a more solid metal body, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a more powerful HiSilicon Kirin 650 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Rounding out the specifications of the 5C are a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, 16GB of expandable storage, a 3,000mAh battery, as well as 13MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras.
Although the product page of the honor 5C on Lazada is a good indicator of the device’s retail price in Malaysia, certain circumstances may have changed ever since the page has been removed; after all, there has to be a reason why it was removed. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how well the honor 5C will fare against the RM749 Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
