Ever wondered what to do with all the 360-degree photos you’ve taken with your camera app? Well, it looks like you can now share them on Facebook and your friends can view the pictures by moving their phones around or by tapping and dragging the photos.
The new Facebook 360 photo feature is available for everyone. Just take a panorama photo on your iOS or Samsung Galaxy device, or capture a 360-degree photo using a 360 photo app or 360 camera, and share it on Facebook. Facebook will indicate a 360-degree photo with a compass icon on the photo on your News Feed.
You can view 360-degree photos like you do for 360-degree videos: simply move your phone around, or drag the photo with your finger to see it. Tap on the photo to view it in full screen. Facebook 360 photos is also compatible with Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus. With a supported Samsung device, simply click View in VR in the top left corner of the video, place the phone in the Gear VR and experience it in an immersive VR environment.
Facebook is also partnering with public figures, publishers and other organisations for its new 360 photos feature. Witness how it’s like to be on the stage in front of 100,000 fans with Paul McCartney, visit the International Space Station with NASA, and more.
