If you never heard of a brand called Mouse Computer before, rest assured you are not the only one. Based in Japan, several of its products were on display at Microsoft‘s booth during the recent Computex 2016 which include these biometrics sensors that support the Windows Hello feature on Windows 10.
One of them is an USB infrared camera which allows users to set up facial-recognition capability for their PC while the other one is a tiny USB fingerprint reader. With the help of these sensors, virtually any Windows 10 PCs are able to support Windows Hello which allows users to log in to their PC using biometric sensors instead of their traditional passwords.
Previously, Windows Hello is usually only available on PCs that comes with built-in biometrics sensor such as the infrared face-detection camera on Surface Pro 4 or the Tobii Eye Tracker on MSI GT72S gaming laptop. That being said, Mouse Computer’s IR camera and fingerprint sensor are not the first external Windows Hello sensors in the market though since companies such as Intel, Creative, Tobii, and SteelSeries have released cameras that able to support Windows Hello although they tend to be quite costly.
Even though Mouse Computer has hinted that the pricing of these sensors might be much lower than existing sensors on the market, the company didn’t provide any official information regarding their availability or pricing. Given the company’s focus on its home market, it is quite doubtful that these Windows Hello sensors will made their way outside of Japan though.
