In case you are not aware of this, Synology which one of the most well-known name in network attached storage (NAS) was actually established in Taiwan back in 2000. Hence, it was quite apt that we took the opportunity to catch up with Synology right at its hometown during Computex 2016 to see the latest products that the company has to offer to consumers at the moment.
One such product is the brand new DS416play which has just entered the market few days ago. Comes with four drive bays, it is equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 dual-core processor and 1GB DDR3 RAM. According to Synology, this particular NAS apparently able to achieve read and write speed of 225 MB/s and 186 MB/s respectively under RAID 5 configuration in Windows environment.
Another major feature on DS416play is its single channel 4K UHD or triple-channel full HD on-the-fly transcoding that allows users to convert their video files to wide range of file formats easily. Also on display at the Synology’s booth in Computex 2016 is the equally new DS216+ II which carries a CPU upgrade (similar to the one in DS416play) over the original DS216+ which was launched earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Synology has also brought forward its Router RT2600ac to Computex 2016. Building upon the foundation left by Router RT1900ac that the company released last year, RT2600ac features a more powerful set of hardware that its predecessor including 1.7GHz dual-core CPU, 4×4 MU-MIMO support, and network speed of up to 2,600Mbps.
Other than that, the RT2600ac is also equipped with a USB3.0 port and full-size SD card reader that supports SDHC UHS-I as well as SDXC UHS-1 cards. As interesting as the RT2600ac might looked like, the release date for it has not been revealed by Synology at the moment.
