Asus has just unveiled its latest ZenFone 3 lineup at Computex 2016, and to our surprise, we were told by an Asus representative that these devices – the standard ZenFone 3, Deluxe and Ultra – are set to arrive in Malaysia by August 2016.
Considering it took Asus Malaysia quite some time to bring in the ZenFone 2 into Malaysia in the past, a timely launch of the ZenFone 3 series will definitely be something local consumers will be looking forward to. After all, there aren’t any Snapdragon 820 Android smartphones in Malaysia yet.
The highest-end device in the ZenFone 3 lineup is the Deluxe variant, and not surprisingly, it’s powered by the capable Snapdragon 820 processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM. Other specifications of the device include a 5.7-inch 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED display, a 23MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and TriTech AF system, an 8MP front-facing shooter, a 3,000mAh battery, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor.
One-tier down is the ZenFone 3 Ultra, and it’s packed with a slower Snapdragon 652 processor paired with up to 4GB of RAM, a huge 6.8-inch 1080p IPS display, 128GB of expandable storage, 23MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras (similar to the Deluxe), as well as a generous 4,600mAh battery. The Ultra also boasts the same metal unibody design and invisible antenna lines as the Deluxe.
Last but definitely not least is the standard edition ZenFone 3. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS+ display, a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, up to 64GB of expandable storage, 16MP rear as well as 8MP front-facing shooters, and a modest 3,000mAh battery. It also boasts a premium metal construction and a fingerprint sensor.
While this is certainly good news, we were told by the Asus representative that the August 2016 launch date is merely a tentative one. Regardless, it’s great to see that Asus Malaysia is planning to bring in the ZenFone 3 devices into Malaysia in a timely manner.
