We are aware that Lenovo’s upcoming Moto Z may feature modular backplates, which the company calls “MotoMod”. Now, images of the alleged backplates have leaked courtesy of serial leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks), giving us our first look at the semi-modular system.
According to the man himself, the module in full view is a Hasselblad camera, which appears to have its own sensor, a lens (purported to have optical zoom), flash and a physical shutter button. As for the other two – which are less obvious in function – Blass explained that the modules are projector and JBL speakers respectively.
By the way, these are (from L to R) the projector, JBL speakers, and Hasselblad camera. https://t.co/7FIk9wA8zx

Of course, the three modular backplates leaked are just part of the arsenal of MotoMods reported; a battery pack and a rugged case with wide angle lens attachment were rumoured as well. Another leaked list has also suggested names for the MotoMods including “pro camera,” “adventure,” “theater,” “stereo,” “power,” and “style.”
We will assume that the Hasselblad camera module is the Pro camera Mod, the JBL speaker as the Stereo Mod and the pico projector as the Theater Mod. Other modules which weren’t pictured – the Power Mod and Adventure Mod should be referring to the battery pack and the rugged case respectively. It remains to be seen what the Style Mod will end up to be; chances are it is the coloured backplate that was previously reported.
In any case, we’ll probably have the details on 9th June at Tech World, in which Lenovo will likely reveal the Moto Z.
