True to our initial report, U Mobile today has officially launches its new Wi-Fi Calling feature for its customers today and became the first Malaysian telco to support it. This particular feature has actually been activated for iPhone earlier few days ago although Android users will have to wait for U Mobile to activate it by Q3 2016.
Available for both postpaid and prepaid customers, they will be able to utilize it without any extra charges. One of the advantages using Wi-Fi Calling is that it helps users make or receive calls in areas where U Mobile coverage is weak or absent as long as they are connected to a Wi-Fi connection.
At the same time, calls made or received through Wi-Fi Calling will be deemed similar to any calls through conventional cellular network. This means that they are charged the same as normal calls and in fact, any U Mobile customers that subscribed to plans with unlimited calls will continue to be able to enjoy it through Wi-Fi Calling even they are outside of Malaysia.
Furthermore, calls that are made or receive through Wi-Fi Calling are on HD Voice if it is supported on user’s phone. To learn more on how to activate Wi-Fi Calling for your iPhone, check out our quick guide right here.
