Asus Teases Upcoming Pascal-Powered G Series Laptops

Barely a month since Nvidia first unveiled the desktop variant of the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, there are now talks about next generation gaming laptops that will allegedly be powered by mobile Pascal GPUs. Chief of it all would be Asus, who has teased consumers about its upcoming lineup of laptops that it claims to contain a GPU that is more powerful than Nvidia’s GTX Titan X.

To be more specific, the upcoming gaming laptops by Asus would be under its G series, which is predominantly known to be a lineup of laptops that are equipped with bleeding edge technologies that make them, well, rather impressive – just look at the madness the company came up with when introducing the water-cooled ROG GX700.

That aside, by referring to the 3DMark 11 graph provided by Asus, one can clearly see that the GPU placed just below the GTX Titan X is nicknamed “GXXX”. Even the most uninformed would know that GXXX would most likely be a GPU made by Nvidia. Plus, it should also be noted that recent high-end gaming laptops by Asus are usually equipped with Nvidia GPUs. The only question that remains though is the specific GPU used in the benchmark.

One’s best bet would either be the GTX 1080M or GTX 1070M; which seems to be very likely considering the fact that Nvidia has already mentioned that both its 1000 series graphics cards are faster than most high-end Maxwell graphics cards (including the GTX Titan X). Unfortunately, one would have to wait until Computex 2016 to know the full specifications of ASUS’ upcoming G series laptops.

Regardless, knowing the fact that the fine “performance” line between mobile and desktop GPUs will soon fade considerably makes for one rather enticing prospect to look out for, don’t you think?
