A couple of weeks after the regional launch event of the Huawei P9 series, we finally have a release date for the Malaysian market. According to Huawei Malaysia, both the P9 and P9 Lite will be in stores on the 28th of May; it appears the P9 Plus will not be launched at the same time.
While Huawei Malaysia states that only the P9 and P9 Lite will be in stores on 28 May, we were told by a representative of the company that all three devices in the P9 series will be arriving in Malaysia. Chances are, the P9 Plus will be available on our shores at a later date.
In addition to revealing the launch date of the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite in Malaysia, the Chinese giant also state that all buyers of the P9 and P9 Plus in Malaysia are eligible for its “VIP Membership.” These include a one-to-one exchange within the 12-month warranty period, free door-to-door pickup and delivery service, along with a three-month display warranty. There will also be a dedicated VIP hotline – 1800-22-0086 – for owners of the P9 and P9 Plus; unfortunately, this service does not extend to the P9 Lite.
Oddly enough, Huawei Malaysia did not reveal the retail prices of the P9 series in Malaysia in today’s announcement; the company said the prices – all three of them – will only be revealed this Friday on 20 May, although an earlier leak may be a good estimate of much these devices will cost in Malaysia. Until then, you can refer to our hands on of the P9 series or an early camera comparison between the P9 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.
