Xiaomi has officially announced the Yi 4K Action Camera 2 in China and will be selling it through a Chinese crowdfunding site. Three colours will be available on launch which is Black, White and Rose Gold.
As we already know, the action camera will sport Sony’s IMX 377 sensor, which is capable of recording 4K video at up to 30 fps. The device can also do slow motion recording at 720p at 240 fps and 1080p at 120 fps as well as time-lapse video with interval of 0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60s. All this processing power is aided by a Ambarella A9SE75 chip which Xiaomi touts it for its power efficiency. Coupled with a 1,400 mAh battery, the device is said to offer up to eight hours of standby time and 110 minutes of 4K recording.
The new action camera will also sport a 2.19-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 640×360; the display will also have a wide viewing angle of 160-degree. Connectivity wise, it comes with a dual-band Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth 4.0. Xiaomi has also prepared a wide array of first party accessories to go along with the new action camera, ranging from a UV filter to a protective casing, and even a floating bar.
The Yi 4K Action Camera 2 is now selling on JD.com, a Chinese crowdfunding site, and the basic package (with the action camera only) goes for 1199 Yuan (about RM 750). There is also a bundle package that includes a Bluetooth remote and a selfie stick, but that will set you back 1299 Yuan (about RM 800). At the moment, the new action camera will only be sold in China; details of global availability are still unknown.
