Taking place in Pavilion KL throughout this week, Casio Malaysia is currently showcasing a number of timepieces that are equipped with its Global Time Sync technologies. While it might look like another generic exhibition, Casio’s showcase actually features a number of new models from the recent Baselworld 2016 – an annual international trade show for watch and jewelry industry – and are yet to be released in Malaysia.
There are two main technologies under the Global Time Sync umbrella with one of them being the GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor. Available on the new Oceanus OCW-G1100S and OCW-G1100C, the technology helps both watches display highly accurate timing based on the time signals that they received from GPS satellites or Multi Band 6-supported radio transmission stations throughout the world.
Apart from these two Oceanus models, the GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology has also been applied on the newly released G-Shock MRG-G1000DC “Akagane”. The new G-Shock MRG-G1000HT and MTG-G1000AR that were launched at Baselworld 2016 are also equipped with the same tech but are not present at Casio Malaysia’s showcase, unfortunately.
Also part of the showcase are the new Edifice EQB-600 and Sheen SHB-100 which are equipped with Smartphone Link feature – another technology that falls under Casio’s Global Time Sync family. With the help of Casio Watch+ Android and iOS apps, users can choose to accurately sync timings from more than 300 cities throughout the world to these two watches via Bluetooth.
Meanwhile, Casio Malaysia has also taken the opportunity to showcase the Pro Trek PRW-7000 together with the G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000 which is the first G-Shock Frogman that comes with water depth sensor. Even though they are not part of the Global Time Sync models even though they are still part of the company’s Baselworld 2016 line-up, these watches are still able to support automated time syncing via Multi Band 6 radio transmission station.
We were informed that new watches from Baselworld would usually arrive in Malaysia between May to September, so expect to see these new Casio watches at Casio Malaysia retailers very soon.
