Samsung will be adding a 10.1-inch iteration to its mid-range Galaxy Tab A lineup, according to a press release by Samsung Germany. The new tablet will be called Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) and will see some minor changes compared to its siblings.
Under the hood, the device is set to be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7870 chipset as with a 1.6 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU. It will also come with 16GB of expandable internal storage and 2GB of RAM, which is measly by today’s standard. In the camera department, the mid-range tablet will sport an 8 MP shooter on the back and 2 MP on the front.
Other specifications include a 1920×1200 IPS panel, a 7,300 mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. There is also two stereo speakers placed on the bottom of the device. Two variants will be available on release, a Wi-Fi only version and a LTE-capable unit that supports up to 300 Mbps LTE.
Pricing wise, the Wi-Fi only model will be retailing at €289 (about RM 1330) while the LTE-capable unit will retail at €349 (about RM 1600). Available in Black and White, the 10.1-inch tablet will start selling in Germany in June; global availability was not mentioned however.
