SanDisk has just launched several new memory drives and microSD cards in Malaysia. These include the new and smaller iXpand flash drive, the Ultra USB Type-C flash drive, and even the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II card, which is said to be the “world’s fastest microSD card.”
First, we have the redesigned iXpand flash drive. Essentially, it is a flash drive for iPhones and iPads, but with a neat trick up its sleeves. In order to accommodate less tech-savvy individuals, the iXpand drive works in tandem with its own mobile app: it is this feature that makes it a particularly interesting product. With the app, users can automatically back up their data; they can also save images taken with the device it is connected to directly to the iXpand drive.
Thank to the rather minuscule size of the iXpand drive, it should be able to accommodate the many different cases consumers use. This drive can also be connected to a PC or Mac via its USB 3.0 connector. The iXpand flash drive is now available in Malaysia in four capacities: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. They are priced at RM179, RM239, RM339, and RM529 respectively.
And then we have the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II card. With a whopping read and write speeds of up to 275MB/s and 100MB/s respectively, SanDisk touts this as the world’s fastest microSD card slot. It is also said to be perfect for use with action cams and drones – as well as smartphones – thanks to the fast transfer speeds. This microSD card will be available in Malaysia in Q2 2016 for RM599 (64GB) and RM1,199 (128GB).
Last but not least is the Ultra USB Type-C flash drive. Seeing how there are more and more products that ship with a USB-C connector, this drive is more relevant than ever. According to SanDisk, the Ultra flash drive is capable of read speed up to 150MB/s; the company did not mention the write speed of this drive. The Ultra Type-C flash drive is now on sale in Malaysia at RM49 and RM69 for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively. If you need more storage, the 64GB and 128GB drives are sold at RM109 and RM199 respectively.
