A few weeks after integrating a free VPN service in its browser, Opera has now decided to release a VPN app for iOS devices that is not only free but also bundled with unlimited data. Opera’s VPN network will be based on the SurfEasy VPN service, which the company had bought just over a few months ago.
When it comes to the massive library of “free” VPN apps on the Apple App Store, consumers will – most of the time – be greeted with either apps that are filled with annoying ads or bear the issue of limitation of data, which will lead users to opt for a subscription service eventually. In contrast, Opera promises users that its VPN app for iOS will be free for life without a data cap. In addition, the company also mentioned that it isn’t looking to place ads in its app – for now.
As of now, users are able to pick from one of the five “simulated” locations in the Opera VPN app, namely Germany, Holland, Singapore, United Kingdom, as well as the United States. Humorously, Opera describes its VPN app to be “especially relevant on campuses and workplaces”, because, well.. you get the idea.
The Opera VPN app is now available to download on the Apple App Store. Unfortunately, the app isn’t available for Android devices yet. More information about the app can be found here.
