It appears official Apple resellers in Malaysia have reduced the prices of the iPhone 5s and last year’s 12-inch MacBook. This isn’t all that surprising, considering the fact that the iPhone SE will be arriving in Malaysia on 13 May; the 12-inch MacBook was also recently refreshed with Intel Skylake processors.
Now that the iPhone 5s have received a whopping RM900 price cut (it originally retails from RM2,199), it is by far the most affordable iPhone to date in Malaysia, although this is merely a promotional price – presumably to clear out stocks. Of course, RM1,299 only gets you the 16GB model; the more practical 32GB iPhone 5s didn’t get the same price cut, seeing how it still retails at RM2,449 on Machines’ online store.
Other than the iPhone 5s, the 2015 12-inch MacBook has received a price cut as well. Originally retailing at RM5,899 before the recent price revision, this MacBook now retail from RM4,599; the 512GB model is priced at RM5,899 instead. Not only is this a very welcome price change, the 12-inch MacBook is now even more affordable than when it was first introduced in Malaysia for RM4,769.
At the time of this writing, both Machines and Switch no longer have the iPhone 5s in stock online. That said, these retailers may still have the device stocked in their retail stores, although we have a feeling it won’t be for long. As for the 2015 12-inch MacBook, both the 256GB and 512GB variants are still available for purchase online.
