Aside from announcing the arrival of the liquid-cooled Republic of Gamers GX700 gaming laptop, ASUS Malaysia has also brought forward another ROG product in the form of ROG GT51 desktop PC. However, the high performance gaming desktop which was showcased at CES 2016 earlier this year will only be making its way to Malaysia later in the year.
Given how ASUS portrays ROG with an aggressive image in order to match the high performance nature of ROG products, that same idea has certainly influenced the exterior design of GT51. The circular area on the bottom front of GT51 which looked like Iron Man’s arc reactor is not just for show – it actually acts as the air intake for the system and houses a fan that help sucks in air to cool down GT51’s internal hardware.
Speaking about cooling system, the GT51 is equipped with a liquid-cooling system for its CPU which comes as a standard right from factory. Since the Intel Core i7-6700K processor in GT51 can be pushed up to 4.6GHz just by pushing the Turbo Gear button on its case, the liquid-cooling system should be helpful in keeping the system stable.
In addition to that, ASUS also has designed dedicated air channel for the graphics cards – GT51 able to support up to two NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan X – and another isolated airflow design just for the system’s power supply unit. Altogether, they apparently able to reduce GT51’s system temperature up to 31% lower according to the company.
Meanwhile, the GT51 also features a number of light zones that are located on its front panel, air intake, and motherboard which are customizable via its AEGIS II software. The same software also allows users to monitor hardware within the system.
The GT51 also has NFC feature built into it which is designed to go together with the optional ROG Band – an NFC bracelet that act as the key to unlock the system’s Shadow Drive which is a hidden partition within GT51’s drive for users to store their personal and confidential data. It also can be used to activate the system’s overclock mode.
Not to forget, the gaming desktop also features an ESS Sabre DAC and amplifier that provides enhanced audio quality for its headphone output on its front panel alongside a USB 3.1 Gen.2 Type-C port with Quick Charge capability. At this moment, ASUS Malaysia has yet to reveal the confirmed specifications for GT51 in our market but we were informed the price might start at RM 9,999 with the release is expected to take place in June 2016.
