A new Moto device might be in development, according to a fresh benchmark that was spotted on Geekbench. Going by the name “Moto XT1650”, it is highly possible that this is the next Moto X flagship phone.
The Moto XT1650, codenamed “Sheridan” will be rocking a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820(MSM8996) SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. This high end processor brings a single-core score of 2309 and a multi-core score of 5344 to the table, which is in line with today’s flagship phones; LG G5 scored 2248 in a single-core benchmark and 5061 in multi-core. Aside from that, the XT1650 also runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Earlier this year, a Lenovo executive has confirmed that all Motorola smartphones launching in 2016 will feature a fingerprint scanner. Considering that the leaked Moto G4 and G4 Plus was spotted with a fingerprint scanner, it is very likely that the we will see a similar sensor in this year’s iteration of Moto X.
Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing recently announced that Motorola will unveil a new device on 9th of June. If rumors are to be believed, the Moto X (2016) may be launched alongside the new Moto G lineup in the event. However it is also possible that both devices will be released separately. Whatever the case is, we will just have to wait for more leaks and announcements.
