With how rapid eSports is advancing, Astro has decided to launch an entirely new channel that is dedicated to eSports content. Dubbed “eGG”, the channel’s name is actually short for Every Good Game, where it will be broadcasting eSports tournaments 24/7.
Astro viewers and fans alike will be delighted to know that eGG will be showing tournaments from popular game titles like Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft II, and more.
eGG will be on Channel 808 – what used to be a channel that is temporarily used for major eSports tournaments has now been turned into a full-fledged broadcasting platform specially made for eSports content.
Lee Choong Khay, the Vice President of Sports at Astro said:
“Enjoying booming popularity among a growing community of eSports fans, we believe that a dedicated 24/7 eSports channel, eGG will play a pivotal role in bringing together a connected ASEAN community of eSports fans.”
Besides that, he also mentioned that Astro will be working with game organisers and developers to bring live top tier International tournaments like the Dota 2 Internationals, and League of Legends World Championship to the channel.
In addition, Astro will also look into bringing on-demand content like pubstomps, game walkthroughs, game guides, documentaries, game house tours, as well as weekly highlights to its viewers.
Astro eGG channel 808 will be available for free to all Astro and Astro on the Go customers in Malaysia starting June 2016.
