Ever since the launch of the honor 5X and honor 7 Enhanced, the sub-brand of Huawei has been pretty quiet for the most part. Now, it appears the company is set to launch its next flagship smartphone really soon, and it’s packing quite an impressive set of hardware.
One of the most interesting specifications of honor’s upcoming device, the honor V8, is its display. According to the smartphone’s TENAA certification, the standard model has a 5.7-inch 1080p display, while the highest-end variant is packing a sharper 2560 x 1440 QHD panel. If this turns out to be true, this will be the very first honor device with such a display resolution.
Aside from the display, the TENAA certification revealed that the honor V8 will in fact feature a dual-camera setup, much like the honor 6 Plus. Whether or not the honor V8’s unique rear camera is similar to the one found on the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus remains to be seen; could Leica be involved in the camera setup of the V8 as well?
Other specifications of the honor V8 include 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM, a 3,400mAh battery, a metal construction, and of course, a “Rose Gold” colour variant of some kind. The TENAA certification also revealed the processor powering the V8, which is likely to be the Kirin 950 on the standard model, and the higher-clocked Kirin 955 on the highest-end variant with a 2K display.
honor is well-known for pricing its flagship devices competitively. If the same pricing strategy will be adopted for the honor V8 as well, this smartphone may be a very compelling one. After all, the V8 is the most well-equipped smartphone yet from the company. We will find out once the device is officially unveiled on 10 May 2016.
