Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun teased what could be the next generation Mi Band during the China Green Companies Summit over the weekend. The CEO dropped a hint on the possible successor to the Mi Band fitness tracker through Xiaomi’s own live-streaming app,
The fitness tracker will sport a display and a bigger overall build as a result. The unit appears to sit in a pod and uses the same silicone material for the band – like the current Mi Band design. Aside from that, the device also feature a physical button on the front.
The addition of a display to the original Mi Band is definitely a welcome one. Before this, users had to rely on the native Mi Fit app to view their activity levels and heart rate. Having a screen on the fitness tracker allows users to have quicker access to their stats, a feature that has been missing in the previous Mi Band and Mi Band Pulse.
According to Xiaomi the Mi Band 2 will be launched on the 10th of May alongside the Xiaomi Max.
