The ultra-slim Aspire S 13 is not the only new Aspire laptops that Acer has launched at its New York press event last week as the company has also unveiled the new Aspire R 15 and F series laptops. Also joining them are the company’s mainstream Aspire E series and ES 15 laptops which have been refreshed for 2016.
The Aspire R series is synonym with the company’s convertible offerings which it is not surprising to see that the same case has been applied to the new Aspire R 15 as well. Featuring a 360-degrees hinge, this allows the Aspire R 15 to be used in multiple form factor including as a standard clamshell laptop and a tablet since it comes with a 15.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS touch display.
The Aspire R 15 is powered by sixth generation Intel Core processor and can be equipped with up to 512GB solid state drive or 1TB hard drive as well as NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU. It also features USB 3.1 Type-C port and has up to 9 hours of battery life.
As for the refreshed Aspire E Series and ES 15 laptops, the update seems rather minimal though and mainly comes in the form of sixth generation Intel Core processors, DDR4 RAM, and new color options. Selected models also feature USB 3.1 Type-C port as well as graphics options of up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M.
Meanwhile, Acer has also introduced new models for its Aspire F Series. While Acer might has spent a little more time on the series’ aesthetics since Aspire F Series laptop features metal cover, the hardware within Aspire F Series laptop is more or less identical to refreshed Aspire E Series laptops as per what we have mentioned earlier.
Depending on selected markets, the Aspire R 15 and F Series will be released starting this May onwards while the refreshed E Series will be rolled out later this month. Price-wise, the R 15 starts at USD 699 (about RM 2,728) in North America, and EUR 799 (about RM 3,509) in EMEA markets.
As for the Aspire F Series, it goes from USD 499 (about RM 1,949) and EUR 499 (about RM 2,195) respectively. The E Series will be heading to both markets as well with a starting price tag of USD 399 (about RM 1,558) in North America and EUR 499 (about RM 1,974) in EMEA region.
In addition to that, the F series will be made available in China from CNY 4,499 (about RM 2,705) alongside the E Series that will be priced from CNY 2,999 (about RM 1,803) onwards. Since these models are considered as Acer’s mainstream laptops, we will not be surprised if they will be released in Malaysia soon although Acer Malaysia have no announcement regarding them at the moment.
