Over at New York just moments ago, Acer has unveiled its brand new 2-in-1 laptop which is called the Switch Alpha 12. While its design made it looked like a direct Microsoft Surface competitor especially its kickstand, another reason that made the new laptop interesting is that it does not equipped with thermal fan.
Despite being fanless, Acer stated that it has actually equipped Switch Alpha 12 with a liquid cooled system called LiquidLoop. Even than, it is still not lacking of firepower as the Switch Alpha 12 comes with a 12-inch QHD (2160 x 1440) touch display and runnin of sixth generation Intel Core processors alongside up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB solid state drive.
Weighting at 1.25kg when connected together, Acer pointed out that Switch Alpha 12’s magnetic detachable keyboard comes together with the tablet unit which is a clear jab at Surface tablets. However, its Active Pen stylus which is compatible with Windows Ink functionalities from the upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update later this year is an optional accessories unlike Surface Pen that comes as a standard with each Surface Pro tablets.
With a battery life of up to 8 hours, the Switch Alpha 12 also features USB 3.1 Type-C port. It will be released in EMEA markets and China this coming May for EUR 699 (about RM 3,092) and CNY 5,999 (about RM 3,623) before heading to US in June with a starting price tag of USD 599 (about RM 2,345).
