[Update]: The updated Apple MacBook is now available for purchase from the official Apple online store. Prices after the jump.
Apple has released an update to its year-old 12-inch Retina MacBook. The updated MacBook now comes with Intel’s 6th generation Skylake Core M processors along with a new colour: Rose Gold. In addition to that, the updated 12-inch MacBook also comes with better battery life as well.
Interestingly, with the addition of the Rose Gold colour variant, Apple’s new 12-inch Retina MacBook lineup colourway is now similar to that of its iOS devices. In addition to that, the Intel Skylake Core M processors included inside the Retina MacBook has clock speeds from 1.1GHz up to a whopping 1.3GHz. Besides that, the new integrated GPU (Intel HD Graphics 515) is also said to be 25% faster compared to the older Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU.
According to Apple, the new and improved battery on the updated 12-inch Retina MacBook allows the laptop to be powered for up to 10 hours when browsing the web and up to 11 hours of continuous movie playback. This translates to an increase of an hour compared to the previous model. The new processor should be one of the contributing factor as well.
The updated 12-inch Retina MacBook comes in two configurations: a 1.1GHz Core m3 model with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage as well as a 1.2GHz Core m5 model with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage. Consumers can also opt for the faster 1.3GHz Core m7 processor as well (optional upgrade).
Price-wise, the 12-inch Retina MacBook base model will be priced at RM5,499, while the Core m5 model will retail for RM6,699. More information regarding the updated 12-inch Retina MacBook can be found here.
