Through a highly awaited launch event earlier this week, TM has officially unveiled its new mobile telco called Webe which was built upon its acquisition of P1. However, no consumer plans were announced at the event though as the launch event was mainly focused on introducing its community-friendly image with the help of its crowdbacking platform called Webe Community.
Few hours after the launch event, Webe has published a statement on its Facebook page that addresses the “leaks” of its services – presumably this particular set of web caches that were discovered through Google last week. According to the statement, the leaks are not webe’s official plans and don’t represent of what the telco will launch very soon.
Nevertheless, the company assures that it will be launching services that are based on feedback from Malaysian consumers. These services are apparently under final phase of testing but again, no mention of exact launch date although we were previous informed that they should be available sometime in the middle of this year.
Judging from the reaction from consumers after the discovery of the mock website last week, it was clear that consumers are generally excited to see what Webe will bring to the market. Furthermore, this is happening right at the time where existing players are clearly working really hard for customer’s attention especially through data offerings.
Of course, the telco need to inform their customers its actual plans first. Else, those excitements might just fade away.
