Following a successful week-long Incredible RM1 Ride Promo, Grab has now moved to permanently make its GrabCar economy rides much cheaper than before.
Effective immediately, GrabCar economy rides no longer have minimum fare. That means rides below a driving distance of 5km will not be subjected to the RM7 minimum fare.
On top of that, the base rate has been reduced from RM1.40 to RM1, further reducing the costs of short trips using the service.
This move is in line with GrabCar’s aims of providing a reliable, safe and affordable form of “last mile” transportation. Whether it is from the LRT station to the office, a business meeting at a nearby restaurant, or even an impromptu trip to the neighbourhood mall, GrabCar’s latest rates promises to be more affordable than ever before.
For example, a GrabCar ride from The Intermark to KLCC will now cost RM3 (from RM7 previously), while a ride from Bangsar Village to the Bangsar LRT station is priced at RM4 (from RM7).
Finally, for added convenience, GrabCar rides accept both cash payments as well as payments made via credit and debit cards. Following the Incredible RM1 Ride Promo, which saw a spike in short-distance rides, the service is also seeing a greater adoption of cashless transactions.
