Apple and the Worldwide Fund for Nature are joining forces the Apps for Earth fundraiser campaign. This sees some 27 developers – like Blizzard and Rovio – release iOS exclusive content. All proceeds from the sale of the DLC will go to the WWF.
The Apps for Earth campaign will run until 24 April, after which all the DLC will no longer be sold. Many of the apps have already been updated with the Apps for Earth campaign, and users should be able to buy the content by now.
Blizzard is introducing a new hero portrait for Hearthstone in the form of Archmage Khadgar. Khadgar will replace Jaina Proudmoore as a mage, and introduce his own portrait and hero power icon. This portrait can only be bought on through the iOS Hearthstone app for $4.99 (RM19.50).
Alternatively, VSCO has a new WWF filter available for VSCOcam that is says will subtly enhance wildlife and landscapes. Angry Birds 2 is also introducing a level focusing on ocean preservation into its campaign.
Other apps that have joined the campaign include Candy Crush Soda Saga, Cooking Dash 2016, Disney Infinity: Toy Box 3.0, Cut the Rope: Magic, Dragon City, LINE, Marvel Contest of Champions, Simcity BuildIT, and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.
iOS users can also download the WWF Together app and purchase the WWF Earth Story to support the campaign. Apps for Earth is being held in Earth Day which falls on 22 April.
