Earlier today, Maxis apparently has a sent a SMS to its SurfMore 50 customers to inform that the telco is about to add extra 1GB worth of data to their account. Scheduled to take place by end of April, this means that the data quota for SurfMore 50 customers will be increased to 3GB very soon.
For those who are doubting the legitimacy of the SMS, it has been verified by MaxisListens team which provides customer service for the telco on Twitter in its replies to multiple customers (here’s an example) that have reached out to the team regarding the SMS. Furthermore, the team has also stated that the new 3GB quota will be valid until customers decide to change to other plans in the future.
Meanwhile, we have no idea if the new 3GB quota is applicable for new customers since the SurfMore 50 section on Maxis website and online store still reflect the old 2GB quota. At the same time, there was no mention if SurfMore 75 (which has been discontinued last year) customers will receive the same benefits or otherwise.
Nevertheless, it is indeed a timely move by Maxis given that some subscribers have been wondering if the telco is planning to improve its non-MaxisONE offerings after its announcement last week.
