Rock Band 4 will not be coming to the PC any time soon. The crowdfunding campaign to fund development of the port failed to achieve its $1.5 million (about RM5.84 million) target on Fig, and has doomed the entire project.
Harmonix managed to reach close to $800,000 (about RM3.1 million) in pledges, but that was a far cry from how much it believed it needed to properly port the game over to the PC. The company was also prepared to put up an additional $500,000 (about RM1.9 million) of its own money to see the completion of the project.
Some questioned the $2 million (about RM7.8 million) needed to fund a PC port of Rock Band 4, saying that the amount sounded excessive. However, Harmonix had addressed the concerns saying that the game was built on its own engine, and that “it’s not a simple matter of flipping a compiler switch and building the game for the PC”.
Harmonix also took time on the crowdfunding page to answer other questions and criticisms about the port in its final message. The developer acknowledged it could have done a better job of promoting the campaign, but it doesn’t look like that would have done enough to change the fact that it barely attracted half of what was being asked.
