If you happen to be using the honor 6 or honor 6 Plus, good news: these two devices can now be updated to Android Lollipop via OTA, eliminating the need – and hassle – of flashing this version of Android.
With this Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update (which honor dubs EMUI 3.1), the honor 6 and honor 6 Plus’ user interface should look and feel very similar to the honor 7 after the update has been installed. After all, the honor 7 was already running on EMUI 3.1 when it was introduced to the market.
While an Android Marshmallow update would’ve been nicer, not many Android smartphones – except for Nexus devices – have received it yet. That being said, honor is already rolling out the Marshmallow update to the honor 7 in India; there’s even an Enhanced Edition of the device that runs on the latest version of Android out of the box in China. Chances are, it will only be a matter of time before the Marshmallow update arrives on other honor devices as well.
Before you actually perform the update, honor Malaysia advises users to back up important data first. If you happen to face any issue updating your honor 6 or honor 6 Plus to EMUI 3.1, you can contact honor Malaysia’s customer service centre at 1800-22-3366.
